Mike Fisher Comes Out of Retirement to Rejoin the Preds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former Nashville Predators Captain, Mike Fisher has decided to end his retirement from the NHL and rejoin the Predators.

On Wednesday morning rumors began to swirl that the Preds were going to hold a press conference. 104-5 The Zone’s Chad Withrow was the first to report that long time Predators Center Mike Fisher will come out of retirement to rejoin the team this season after previously helping lead the Predators to the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals.

The Predators will hold a press conference at 11:30. Look for them to announce a big comeback at that time.

Fisher, the former Captain (7th of the Nashville Predators franchise), is expected to return around the trade deadline of February 26th, but Preds GM David Poile says there’s no official timetable for his return.

However, Fisher plans to begin skating and working out on his own in the meantime. He practiced in full Predators gear on Wednesday morning at Bridgestone Arena.

“Bear with me, I’m still a little out of breath from the skate this morning,” Fisher laughed.

He added how great it was to be back with the Nashville Predators and how he never really considered it a possibility to come out of retirement.

Fisher had conversations about coming back while watching the Preds this season but did not decide until recently to come out of retirement.

He stated that after talking to David Poile (Predators General Manager), Roman Josi (Predators Captain), and Peter Laviolette (Predators Head Coach), he was “all in”.

“The more I thought about it, it’s such a great opportunity and will be a lot of fun,” Fisher added. “It’s going to be some work, but I’m ready for it.”
