Logan Ryan To Speak At Sports Fest 2017

Get to know our next speaker, newly signed Tennessee Titans cornerback, Logan Ryan as he will take part of our Planet Fitness Speaker Series at this year’s Sports Fest!

Logan Ryan was born in Berlin, New Jersey and attended Eastern Regional High School. He was an All-State selection as a cornerback and as a quarterback. He was considered a 4 star recruit coming out of high school and was given the opportunity to attend and play football at Rutgers University.

At Rutgers, Ryan was named a second-team All-Big East Conference selection in 2011 and a first-team All-Big East selection his junior year in 2012. He was also named a first-team All-American in 2012. Ryan decided to forgo his senior year and declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.

Ryan was selected in the 3rd round (83rd overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. In his first season as a Patriot, Ryan played in 16 games (7 starts) and combined for 35 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 5 interceptions, 10 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and a defensive touchdown. He also played in both of the Patriots postseason games and combined for 12 tackles. The Patriots lost to Denver 16-26 in the AFC Championship game which eliminated them from the postseason.

In his second year for the Patriots, he played in all 16 regular season games with 6 starts and combined for 42 tackles. 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble. Ryan also played in all 3 postseason games, including Super Bowl XLIX in which he combined for 4 tackles, 1 pass defended and a forced fumble. The Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 to win Super Bowl XLIX on February 1, 2015.

In 2015, Logan Ryan became a starter for the Patriots along side Super Bowl XLIX hero Malcolm Butler. As as starter, Ryan would have a breakout season for the Pats with 74 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 14 passes defended. Ryan also started in both of the Patriots postseason games and combined for 14 tackles and 1 pass defended. The Patriots lost to Denver 18-20 in the AFC Championship game which eliminated them from the postseason.

Ryan would continue his success in the 2016 season with another great year as a starter. He compiled career highs with 92 tackles, 2 interceptions, 11 passes defended, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble. Ryan would help the Patriots win 14 games and combined for 22 tackles, 1 interception, 4 passes defended, and 1 sack in the postseason which would include a Super Bowl victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the first overtime in Super Bowl history with a score of 34-28.

Ryan hit free agency in 2017 and on March 10, he would sign a 3 year, $30 million contract with the Tennessee Titans. Titans General Manager Jon Robinson scouted Ryan for the Patriots during his years as the Patriots Director of College Scouting and played a role in drafting Ryan for the Patriots in 2013.
